We had a very nice visit with an &#8220;old&#8221; friend of Mark&#8217;s on the eastern side the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Blue Ridge<\/mark><\/strong> one day, and on another&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A re-visit to <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">2 National Park Sites<\/mark><\/strong>:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Shenandoah National Park<\/strong><\/mark> (#42-Revisit), where there&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so much<\/span> to explore, but this visit we only spent an afternoon driving south on the central section of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Skyline Drive<\/strong><\/mark>, from Thornton Gap Entrance to Swift Run Gap Entrance. Beautiful day on &#8220;<em>The Greatest Single Feature<\/em>&#8220;<sup data-fn=\"87131403-4ccc-40b3-91fd-d534de84710a\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#87131403-4ccc-40b3-91fd-d534de84710a\" id=\"87131403-4ccc-40b3-91fd-d534de84710a-link\">1<\/a><\/sup> of the park, completed by the CCC. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Appalachian Trail<\/strong><\/mark> (#86-revisit), on which we took a short walk.  How could we not?  It runs 107 miles in <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Shenandoah NP<\/strong><\/mark>, crossing <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Skyline Drive<\/strong><\/mark>, 32 times!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-autoplay=\"true\" data-delay=\"5\" data-effect=\"slide\"><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_container swiper-container\"><ul class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_swiper-wrapper swiper-wrapper\"><li class=\"has-inline-color\">Civil War<\/mark><\/strong> stop <\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving around, we stopped in New Market to see the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1160b5\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Monument to the 54th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment<\/mark><\/strong>. They suffered the second-highest regimental loss in the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1160b5\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Battle of New Market<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>Off for New Jersey&#8230;LOOOONG Day ahead&#8230;300+ miles!<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>And tomorrow we&#8217;ll be heading to Troy, NY for the weekend (without Lizzy). It&#8217;s time for a &#8220;Touring Break&#8221;.
