{"id":13776,"date":"2025-03-08T11:12:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T19:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=13776"},"modified":"2025-03-08T11:12:02","modified_gmt":"2025-03-08T19:12:02","slug":"in-the-mountains-above-el-paso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=13776","title":{"rendered":"In the mountains above El Paso"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>Last Stop, State Park &amp; National Park in Texas!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We arrived in a dust storm, not quite as bad as the one on the way to Marfa, but not much fun for Mark, towing <strong><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#a1bcf7\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Lizzy<\/mark><\/em><\/strong> into the Franklin Mountains, outside of El Paso. We camped in a &#8220;rustic campsite&#8221; in <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Franklin Mountains State Park<\/strong><\/mark> for 2 nights, another great Texas State Park. We would come back, to do some hiking. There&#8217;s a 3.8 mile loop to a big cave, not to mention some Nature Hikes we&#8217;d have done, if we had time. It was clear in the morning, so we made it into El Paso to visit a couple of places and run some errands. background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); color: rgb(29, 106, 6);\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>1<\/strong><\/mark> new <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">National Park Site<\/mark><\/strong> (15th of 15 in Texas):<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Chamizal National Monument<\/strong><\/mark> (#283), where the grounds are a reminder of the harmonious settlement of a 100-year boundary dispute between the United States and Mexico. The agreement was made in 1962, actions were completed (i.e. building a cement lined canal for the Rio Grande in the area, moving Americans on the land ceded to Mexico back across the new border, and vice versa) in 1967. There they celebrate the cultures of the borderlands to promote the same mutial respect that helped to diplomatically resolve an international disagreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-autoplay=\"true\" data-delay=\"5\" data-effect=\"slide\"><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_container swiper-container\"><ul
