That is 3 more days than originally planned, due to that <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#730202\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Check Engine Light<\/strong><\/mark><\/strong> on Friday afternoon. At least it didn&#8217;t happen on a long drive, or towing, or when we were MILES from a Chevy Dealer! Mark and The Beast spent half of Friday afternoon and all day yesterday &#8220;in the shop&#8221;! <strong>BUT<\/strong>, with our extra time in Visalia (not at the Chevy dealer), we went to a Minor League baseball game and spent an extra day visiting <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Sequoia &amp; Kings Canyon NP<\/strong><\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visits to <mark style=\"font-weight: bold; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); color: rgb(29, 106, 6);\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>3<\/strong><\/mark> new <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">National Park Sites<\/mark><\/strong>:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">C\u00e9sar E. Ch\u00e1vez National Monument<\/mark><\/strong> (#291), at Nuestra Se\u00f1ora Reina De La Paz, in the foothills outside of Bakersfield, was the home and workplace of C\u00e9sar E. Ch\u00e1vez and the farmworker movement, most significantly, from 1970 to 1984. A week later, four more square miles became nearby <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>General Grant National Park<\/strong><\/mark>. In 1940, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Kings Canyon National Park<\/strong><\/mark> was established to include the glacially formed Kings Canyon, and absorbed General Grant NP. In fact, the high elevation portion of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Generals Highway<\/strong><\/mark>, which runs from the southern entrance in <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Sequoia<\/strong><\/mark>, thru the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Giant Forest<\/strong><\/mark>, to the northern entrance in <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Kings Canyon<\/strong><\/mark>, only opened a week or so ago. We actually hiked up the 350 steps of Mora Rock twice, once in 95% clouds, once in 95% clear skies.  We went in and out the south end twice, the north end once, and drove the entire Generals Highway from south to north on the last, sunny day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
