{"id":14503,"date":"2025-07-30T10:53:24","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=14503"},"modified":"2025-07-30T19:05:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T02:05:03","slug":"wrangell-and-the-stikine-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=14503","title":{"rendered":"Wrangell and the Stikine River"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>Getting in the Cruise Groove&#8230;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the day was spent around Wrangell&#8230;in town and on a Stikine River tour, heading out late for our last day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>Wrangell Morning<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday morning we arrived in quiet <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Wrangell<\/mark><\/strong>, an area inhabited by the Tlingit people for thousands of years and the only town in Alaska to have been ruled by four nations \u2013 the Tlingit, Russia, England, and the United States. After breakfast, we spent a few hours exploring the town, starting at Petroglyph Beach and ending at the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Wrangell Museum<\/mark><\/strong>, where we learned about Wrangell&#8217;s colorful past &amp; present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" Shakes Glacier<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, we took a 3+ hours jet boat tour out of Wrangell, on the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Stikine River<\/mark><\/strong>, the fastest navigable free-flowing river in North America, to the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Shakes Glacier<\/mark><\/strong> and back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-autoplay=\"true\" data-delay=\"5\" data-effect=\"slide\" away from Wrangell over dinner, back on the boat.
