{"id":16158,"date":"2026-01-25T05:28:30","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T13:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=16158"},"modified":"2026-01-30T08:22:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T16:22:34","slug":"laying-low-in-the-lowcountry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streaming2nps.com\/?p=16158","title":{"rendered":"Laying Low in the Lowcountry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>AKA&#8230;hanging out near Charleston, SC<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After we picked up <strong><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#a1bcf7\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Lizzy<\/mark><\/em><\/strong>, we spent the rest of the day getting settled in camp and getting <strong><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#a1bcf7\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Lizzy<\/mark><\/em><\/strong> cleaned and stocked up for travel.  Then we had four days, mostly just hanging out, although we did venture out a few times (in addition to walking the nature trail adjacent to the campground, no driving required.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We joined friends Steve &amp; Jane for dinner Thursday evening, visited the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Sewee Visitor &amp; Environmental Education Center<\/mark><\/strong> on Friday, and visited the <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">The Avian Conservation Center &amp; Center for Birds of Prey<\/mark><\/strong> yesterday.  We saw our first alligator of 2026, 3 Red Wolves, and a wide variety of birds of prey from around the world, some only in cages, several in Flight Demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Few Fun Facts we learned&#8230;.Red Wolves are endangered, Vultures are quite clean and protect us from several deseases (e.g. rabies) by eating carion, Owls fly silently (we experienced it) due to their really fluffy feathers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-autoplay=\"true\" data-delay=\"5\" data-effect=\"slide\" style=\"--aspect-ratio:calc(750 \/ 423)\"><div
