It got down to 15<sup>o<\/sup> one night.  We encountered the snow, hiking!   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#1d6a06\"><strong>Two new National Parks, in 3 days, with <strong>15+ miles of hiking<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our stay in Willcox was all about visiting 2 new National Parks and getting in some hiking.  We took 3 longish day trips to do just that.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We visited <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Chiricahua National Monument<\/mark><\/strong> (#183) on our first 2 days, driving the Scenic Bonita Canyon Drive and hiking ~10.5 miles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Massai Point Nature Trail (half in unbroken snow!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up Sugarloaf Mountain (<strong>mostly<\/strong> in unbroken snow!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the Visitor Center to Bonita Creek &amp; back, by Faraway Ranch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up the Lower Rhyolite Trail and back (much in snow &amp; ice)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow visited <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Fort Bowie National Historic Site<\/mark><\/strong> (#184). You have to hike in 1.5 miles just to get to the visitor Center. We did that on the once-a-week <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Hiking through History<\/mark><\/strong> Ranger Walk. Took the side trip to see the original Fort Bowie ruins, walked around the 2nd Fort Bowie ruins (more extensive than expected), and hiked out on the Ridge Trail, getting in ~5 miles by the time we were back to The Beast. A LOT of history here&#8230;Butterfield Stage Coach line (<strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Butterfield Overland National Historic art, history, culture, and archaeology.  No pictures allowed.
