We actually got a 5 night reservation to camp at <strong><span style=\"color:#1d6a06\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Crater Lake National Park<\/span><\/strong> in late August, and scheduled the rest of the trip around that, including camping with<strong> Friends<\/strong>, twice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Cascade Locks, OR<\/strong> on the <strong>Columbia River<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Fossil, Oregon<\/strong> in the high desert<\/li><li><strong>Culver, Oregon<\/strong><\/li><li>Manzanita Lake Campground at <strong>Crater Lake National Park<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Salem, Oregon<\/strong> for some sales tax free shopping<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#090d8e\"><strong>Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We did a lot of touring around <strong>Cascade Locks<\/strong> on the <strong>Columbia Gorge<\/strong>, and camped a couple of days with Gail&#8217;s friends, Gaye-T &amp; Sandra-S.  In fact, Sandra was our first overnight guest in <strong><em><span style=\"color:#a1bcf7\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Lizzy<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.  Touring, much with Gaye &amp; Sandra, included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Visited &amp; Hiked<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mount Hood<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Timberline Lodge<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Viento State Park<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Starvation Creek State Park<\/strong><ul><li><strong>Horsetail Falls<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Cabin Creek Falls<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Hole in the Wall Falls<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Beacon Rock<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Historic Route 30<\/strong>, including <ul><li><strong>Vista House<\/strong> @ <strong>Crown Point<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Multnomah Falls<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#090d8e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Other<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Bridge of the Gods<\/strong> (where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses the Columbia)<\/li><li><strong>Bridgeside Restaurant<\/strong> twice!  (Sandra&#8217;s ex-inlaws owned it!<\/li><li><strong>Columbia Gorge Interpretive Museum<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Bonneville Locks <\/strong>&amp; <strong>Dam <\/strong>&amp;<strong> Hatchery<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Western Antique Aeroplane <\/strong>&amp;<strong> Automobile Museum<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The stay at Fossil, was all about visiting all 3 units of the <strong>John Day Fossil Beds NM<\/strong>, but driving around was awesome, too, and we discovered the <strong>Fossil Museum<\/strong>.   We stopped a couple of nights at Culver, OR, where we hiked and hung out <strong>Palisades Cove State Park<\/strong>.  That was part way to <strong>Crater Lake NP<\/strong>. More camping with friends, as Michael-D &amp; Kathy joined us there for 2 days.
