getting in local games while Mark still had the Jersey Shore house!
#9 – Boston Red Sox @ Fenway Park
  • 2018 – vs Tampa Bay Rays (8/19/18) … GREAT SEATS!!! right behind home plate, from Tricia’s Brother, while visiting Nicky in East Brookfield for his 88th birthday. Finally got to see the Oldest MLB Ballpark!
#10 – Cleveland IndiansGuardians @ Progressive Field
#11 – Colorado Rockies @ Coors Field
#12 – Kansas City Royals @ Kauffman Stadium
  • 2023 – vs Atlanta Braves (4/15/2023) … GREAT SEATS!!! just a bit up the first base side, on a cold, rainy afternoon (hence the rain coats & bulky layers), on our Prairie/Midwest Dash. There was a 2.5 hour Rain (and hail) Delay and it was a lopsided game, so we admit to leaving in the top of the 8th Inning, when the Braves blew it open. Final Score, 9-3.
#13 – Cincinnati Reds @ Great American Ball Park
  • 2023 – vs Texas Rangers (4/26/2023) … GREAT SEATS!!! just a bit up the first base side, on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in the mid 60s, plenty warm in our sunny seats, on our Prairie/Midwest Dash. Game ended with a walk off home run, giving the Reds a Sweep!
#14 – Detroit Tigers @ Comerica Park
  • 2024 – vs Cleveland Guardians (7/30/2024) … GREAT SEATS!!! just a bit up the first base side, on a hot with intermittently cloudy, sunny, rainy afternoon (hence the use of our recently acquired ponchos on Maid of the Mist), Great Lakes East. Game ended lop-sided, 5-0, Guardians.
#15 – Arizona Diamondbacks @ Chase Field
  • 2025 – vs Chicago Cubs (3/30/2025) … Exciting Game!!! First, we arrived with the roof closed, and got to see it open…very different from how the Mariners T-Mobile retractable roof works. As for the game…Slow & Steady for the first 7 innings (7th inning score 3-2 Cubs). Then, in the 8th inning (after we saw lots of Cubs and Diamondbacks fans leave), the floodgates opened. 8th Inning/Final Score: 10-6 Diamondbacks
#16 – San Diego Padres @ Petco Park
  • 2025 – vs Cleveland Guardians (4/2/2025) … Exciting Game!!! We saw someone steal home!  And…the Padres broke a team record with the game, winning their 7th game in their 7 game home season opener. Final Score: 5-2 Padres
Wandering around the park, we decided that it is Our Favorite Ballpark, so far! (an usher told us that some people think it’s tied with Oracle Park in San Francisco…we’ll see if we agree in just a couple of weeks.) It’s the 2nd one we’ve visited with a team Hall of Fame in the park (1st was Cinncinnati). It has a play park on the grounds with a grass hill, 3 play areas for kids, 1 for pets, and…it becomes a city park when there isn’t a game!
#17- Los Angeles Angels @ Angel Stadium
  • 2025 – vs Cleveland Guardians (4/6/2025) … Gorgeous afternoon. Great seats on the 1st base side. Good Game, although nothing as exciting as our last 2. It was nice to see Mike Trout play. But we kept up our streak of Home Team Wins. Final Score: 6-2 Angels
#18- Los Angeles Dodgers @ Dodger Stadium
  • 2025 – vs Chicago Cubs (4/11/2025) … Lovely evening, it was Freddie Freeman Bobblehead Night at the largest (now that the Oakland Colesium is closed) and 3rd oldest (after Fenway & Wrigley) MLB Ballpark. We saw Freddie get beaned (and then score when Edmon hit a 3-run Homer).  We saw Shohei Ohtani at bat (current highest paid MLB player) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitch six scoreless innings (103 pitches), striking out nine batters, allowing only two hits, walking one batter.  It was definitely a pitchers duel.  Final Score: 3-0 Dodgers

With the insane traffic & parking, tight spaces (e.g. in the stairwells, at our seats), and prices, we decided this is Our Least Favorite Ballpark, so far!   One big redeeming feature is the view of the mountains in the outfield. Due to prices (we paid 50-100% more $, for way less desirable seats) we were 7 rows from the top (on the 3rd base side) and had a better view of the mountains.
#19- San Francisco Giants @ Oracle Park
  • 2025 – vs Milwaukee Brewers (4/24/2025) …Coolish, windy, afternoon game. Met with Bill in Palo Alto and took the train into the city. Unfortunately, Judith had to bow out last minute, due to an injury. It was a pretty exciting game. Brewers were in the lead for most of the game, until the 8th inning. Gail was excited (and emotional) to see Mike Yastremski play, get a home run, and then hit in the tying run in the 8th! (Mike is grandson of her favorite Red Sox player, Carl Yastremski.) Final Score: : 6-5 Giants.

MLB – 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

On Gail’s birthday weekend, 2016, we attended the 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Cooperstown, for Ken Griffey, Jr and Mike Piazza. Jeff & Sam joined us. To be clear, we attended to see Ken Griffey, Jr.:

  • Jeff’s favorite baseball player
  • Born in Mark’s hometown (Ken Griffey Sr was 2 years ahead of Mark in HS)
  • 1st player to be inducted as a Seattle Mariner
