Fish are Cold-Blooded Vertebrates (have a Backbone).
They live in the water, have scales on their bodies and gills for breathing.

Tropical Fish?

They must be tropical, if we saw them snorkeling in Hawaii, yes? Here are some fish we saw Snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay, on the Big Island of Hawaii. And one seen in the Everglades…sort of Tropical???

Salmon & Steelhead

We’ve seen Salmon in the locks, in Hatcheries, etc. and will get some pics and info in here in a bit. But to start, how about a couple of the King Salmon that Mark caught on his 2021 trip to Vancouver Island?

Salmon and Steelhead of the Pacific Northwest are world renowned! Known for their indomitable urge to swim upstream to spawn, these fish are truly a marvel of nature. Salmon and Steelhead also have great cultural importance to Native American tribes throughout the Northwest.

King vs. Sockeye Salmon

Chinook/King, Coho/Silver, Chum, Pink, and Sockeye are the five species of Pacific Salmon that inhabit many of the Pacific Northwest National Forests. National Forests in Oregon and Washington provide approximately 50% of the spawning and rearing habitat for these fish.
