Short Stay in Gulfport

We spent an afternoon visiting the Mississippi side of the Gulf Islands NS, and then drove back to camp along the Gulf Coast, through Biloxi, with a stop at Shaggy’s in Gulfport for a Mississippi Gulf Coast dinner. Forgot to mention last post, that we had an Alabama Gulf Coast dinner at the Original Oyster House, outside of Mobile. We’ll get in a Louisiana Gulf Coast dinner soon!

  • Gulf Islands National Seashore (#232-Part 2), where we visited the Davis Bayou Area to see the Visitor Center and take a little hike. The only winter access to the actual Mississippi Gulf Islands is by private boat. The ferries only run ~April to ~October.

Seems to us, that Mississippi Bayous look a lot like Florida Swamps. Eh? Having looked up the difference, guess it’s can sometimes be hard to tell just from looking.

Yesterday we just took a day in camp. We now have camping reservations pretty much through September! Now we have to plan our spring trip to Alaska (flying from Seattle, without Lizzy.)

New Orleans, here we come!

Don’t get too excited, we’ll be off again before Madi Gras!

We would be, too, but note…one afternoon touring…one WHOLE DAY, just hanging in camp!
