…now in Baton Rouge
Here 5 nights, we thought we’d spend 2-3 days exploring Baton Rouge (Sunday was for Superbowl). However, we found out there was a BIG Mardi Gras Parade downtown on Saturday, and almost everything would be closed for Mardi Gras on Tuesday.
SO…Monday we got out early to visit the 2 things we really wanted to see in Baton Rouge (and stopped for Po-Boys & Gumbo for lunch):
- the Louisiana Capitol, the tallest in the country, observation deck on the 27th floor
- the USS Kidd Veterans Museum…the USS Kidd is the only vessel ever given official sanction in the history of the U.S. Navy to fly a pirate flag, the Skull & Crossbones.

The rest of the time, we shopped at our 43rd Costco, watched the Superbowl, cut our hair, did laundry, started our taxes, yada, yada, yada!
and…The Beast…returning from Baton Rouge Monday–>
Heading on up the Mississippi to Vidalia, LA / Natchez, MS

Happy Valentine’s day. It is a cold and windy day. Had threat of big storm for yesterday, did not materialize around here as expected, went South, Rutland got about 4-5 ” schools, town offices all closed for nothing.
Enjoy your trip.
