First Time in…QUITE Awhile…in Connecticut!
The solar panels still work, and so does the generator, thank goodness, as we’re in the shade & there’s been a fair amount of rain. We camped at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic, Connecticut for 5 nights, and have 12 more Hookup-less nights to go, on Cape Cod & in Rhode Island.
State Park Campgrounds in the Northeast don’t have hookups. When we first started camping with Lizzy, in New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York, we “assumed” that was standard. Then, on our first trip south, winter of 2018, we discovered that, at least Virginia and south, they DO have electric & water hookups, some even individual sewer hookups. One State Park Campground in Georgia even had Cable TV!!!
Anyway, this is our 2nd time camping here, for the same reason…access to the Z’s Family Reunion in Storrs, Connecticut, 1st Sunday in August (on Gail’s Mother’s side of the family). Last time we went was 5 years ago, on our first summer camping trip. There were a number of Birthday Milestones recognized, including our 70ths this year!
We also got in a little touring: We spent one day in Hartford, to visit the Connecticut Capitol (#26) and the Mark Twain House & Museum, followed by a lovely visit with Sue & Norm. We also spent a day visiting the USS Nautilus, Submarine Force Library & Museum in the morning and Mystic Seaport Museum in the afternoon, followed by Lobstah Rolls, Fish-n-Chips, etc. enjoyed on the water in Mystic.
Off for Cape Cod!
