Only our 2nd time…in 23+ years!
Last time we visited 2 islands in 14 days (Hawai’i for 12, Oahu for 2). This time we’re visiting 4 islands in 22 days…flying to the farthest west first, then hopping back east an island at a time.
Overview of plans for the next 22 days
- Kaua’i (October 19-22) – Two days exploring a new island for us, where we’re taking 3 tours (airplane, boat, & kayak/hike) to ensure we see the Na Pali Coast and some waterfalls.
- O’ahu (October 22-27) – Five days visiting Michael, an “old” high school/hometown friend of Gail’s, and doing a bit of touring:
- Hawai’i State Capitol in Honolulu
- Pearl Harbor National Memorial and a trip out to the USS Arizona Memorial
- Maybe the new Honouliuli National Historic Site
- ‘Iolani Palace
- Maui (October 27-November 3) – A week exploring another new island for us. It will include visiting:
- Haleakalā National Park, where we do already have our sunrise access tickets!
- Road to Hana!
- Hawai’i (November 3-10) – A week revisiting our favorite island from our first trip, including (re)visiting:
- Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, where we’ll spend 2 nights at Volcanoes House.
- Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park
- Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park
- Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site
- Tour to the top of Mona Kea!
Off for SEATAC…long flight to our 1st stop…Kaua’i
OH…and we hope to hit at least 4 Costcos.

When you are in Maui, try to go to Mama’s Fish House for dinner.
