State Parks on the Oregon Coast

Gail got her 2nd Covid vaccination last week and Mark’s was earlier in March. So we de-winterized Lizzy and are taking her out for a run. We’ll be visiting a few spots on the Oregon Coast for 2+ Weeks.

Cape Blanco Sunset from campsite

We took 2 days to get to Cape Blanco State Park yesterday (with an overnight at the Albany/Corvallis KOA). This is the farthest south we’ve camped on the Oregon Coast, and is the only campground on this trip, which is new to us! We got a GREAT campsite, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, through the trees. And it’s just a bit over a mile walk to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse, the oldest standing lighthouse on the Oregon Coast.

Cape Blanco is near Port Orford, a small, artistic fishing town, the oldest platted town site on the Oregon coast, and the most westerly city in the continental U.S. Looking forward to exploring it.

After a week here, we’ll head north up the Oregon Coast on 101. We’ll be staying a week at South Beach State Park, near Newport, and 3 days at Nehalem Bay State Park, near Manzanita, before heading home. No big plans, just a relaxing trip, with a little exploring, some hiking, and a lot of beach walking.

We are documenting this Adventure in:  Southern Oregon Coast
