Leaving Bonneville Salt Flats / Salt Lake City

Arrived for one night in Wendover, UT/NV yesterday, and were delighted to find that we arrived at Historic Wendover Army Air Base in time for the once-a-day tour! It was once the largest airbase in the world and was part of the Manhattan Project, as it’s where the Tibbets Team trained to drop the Fat Man & Little Boy bombs in WWII. And…they filmed parts of the movies Conair and Independence Day here (and have the Airplane from Conair!) Last stop in Utah, to see the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Before that, we had 5 nights in Salt Lake City (well, Lizzy did…we left her one night to stay in Deer Mountain/Park City with Gary, and old college friend). We had 2 days exploring Park City & the 2002 Olympic Park with Gary, a day trip to Timpanogos Cave National Monument (#180) and Sundance Resort, and a lazy day with a visit to the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City (#14). It was hot!

Yes we are, but I will never again plan a trip so jam-packed. It’s wearing me out. Need more down days
