From Lumber Town to Industrial Center

Our first stop on Lake Michigan, we camped on a small lake, about 3/4 mile to walk around the whole thing. It’s about equi-distant from Whitehall to the northwest and downtown Muskegon to the southwest. Muskegon is on the south side of Lake Muskegon, just off Lake Michigan by a short channel.

Oh My Goodness, did we learn a lot about Muskegon in 4 days. We had NO IDEA how many things Muskegon were developed/built here (e.g. Automatic Pinsetter) nor how big of a Port on Lake Michigan it is! We visited Muskegon all 4 days, with one morning trip north to Whitehall and a drive through Muskegon State Park, on the north side of Lake Muskegon.

You are having a wonderful adventure. You are in Michigan, my pianist granddaughter just moved to Traverse Michigan I think it is on or near the lake . will be teaching Piano at an Arts Culture private high school wonder if it is anywhere near where you are. I know, Michigan is huge.

Other thing I want to know if you have been to Glacier National Park. My youngest, Marjorie and her husband, Brendan’s father and their middle child, Maura, just landed their a few minutes ago for 2 weeks. Looking at pictures on line it is beautiful. They love outdoorsy stuff.

back there for a longer visit!
We are in Empire, MI now, for 6 nights. We will be going to Traverse City while here.
