OR…Cousin to Cousin…visits all about family!
Moved to Petaluma from Fortuna yesterday, locations from which we could visit both of Gail’s only “Girl Cousins” on her Dad’s side, both of whom we last saw in early 2020, shortly Before Covid. We visited Patti and her husband Wes in Fortuna (including playing pitch) early in the week. We visited Jeanne yesterday in Santa Rosa.
We last saw Patti & Wes on our Northern California Coast Road Trip, when we stayed in their guest house. Good thing this is a Lizzy trip, as their guest house has been unavailable since the Ferndale 6.4 earthquake and 5.4 aftershock, Dec 20 and Jan 1. It was the biggest earthquake they have experienced since moving here 35 years ago (and the aftershock did more damage at their house than the original quake).
Amazingly, not one window in Patti’s Greenhouse broke in either the earthquake or aftershock, although they were bad enough, that Patti lost a lot of pots.
We last saw Jeanne on our Southern Arizona Trip. In fact, the last time Gail went to a professional hair dresser, was with Jeanne in Tucson, March 5, 2020! We had also planned to meet up later in the month in Bisbee, for the J.A. Jance Lavender Jeep Tour, as we’re both fans. But alas, Covid. Now that Jeanne has moved to Santa Rosa, Mark (who is J.A. Jance?) will join Gail on the tour when we finally get to Bisbee next month.
Anyway, we’ll be here for another day, before we move on to the South Bay Area, where we plan to visit a number of “old” RPI Friends! Yesterday, Gail had a lovely lunch with the daughter of one of those friends, Rosie, and her fiance, Martha, in Cotati.
OH! Note the flooding in cover picture. That is here in Petaluma. Particularly interesting to us, as the last time we were here, in October/November 2019, we dealt with smoke from the Kincaid Fire, ~30 miles north. Different times!
