…Point, Town, Campground, and Lighthouse!

We have spent the last 5 nights at the Easternmost campground in the US (Sunset Point RV Park), in the Easternmost town (Lubec, Maine), home of the Easternmost Lighthouse (West Quoddy). We’re also in the land of high tide ranges, i.e. close to the Bay of Fundy (highest tidal range in the world). Lubec averages 15-17 feet? Special campground, on Johnson Bay, where the sun sets directly behind Lizzy at night. [We missed visiting Cobstock Bay State Park (tide averages 24 feet and can reach 28 feet), as it was closed for cleanup from Storm Lee.]

Low Tide to High Tide on the Lubec Jetty

And did we mention that camping fees at Sunset Point include access to Lobster Cooking equipment??? Our last stop on the Maine Coast, we had to take advantage.

National Park Visits

While here, we spent an afternoon visiting San Croix Island International Historic Site (#213), where the French first tried colonization in North America. We broke the halfway point for visiting National Parks (425 as of July). We then spent the better part of 2 days visiting Roosevelt Campobello International Historic Park, over the FDR Bridge from Lubec, Maine, on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Another country, but only 3 miles from our campsite. It is the only park in the world jointly managed by 2 countries (Canada and the US). And we saw 2 more lighthouses!

Off for Millinocket, Maine and the end of the Appalachian Trail
