Camping at the largest KOA in the Country
Yep! Okeechobee KOA is the largest KOA in the world, by area and # of sites, and encompasses a 9 Hole Golf Course. Gail’s Cocoa Cousins asked, “Why are you going to Okeechobee? There isn’t much there.” Maybe they were right? Well, unless you golf. We don’t. So, in 4 days, we had plenty of time to catch up a bit on “stuff”, like Mark spending the better part of a day cleaning out and reorganizing the bed of The Beast!
We did spend one afternoon doing a little touring around Okeechobee. We had to at least:
- see Lake Okeechobee, 7th largest lake in the US and largest in Florida
- check out one of the Locks on the Okeechobee Canal/Okeechobee Waterway
- walk on Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (part of Florida National Scenic Trail)
- visit Okeechobee Battlefield Historic Park
Off for Fort Lauderdale (to revisit Biscayne National Park)

WOW! I bet Bruce is really glad he’s retired and doesn’t have to plow at WPI!
And yes, just doing chores, where I could have the windows open, was nice.
We took one day JUST to FINALLY get our New Years cards out…to late for Christmas!
