Lizzy Adventure Album at:
Overview
We spent almost a month on our first Lizzy Trip, after moving to the Northwest in October 2018. We spent 3 weeks/5 stops meandering south along the Pacific Coast of SW Washington & NW Oregon, and back north on I-5 with a 5-day stop near Oregon City:
- Pacific Beach State Park, WA just south of Moclips and a bit north of Ocean Shores
- Cape Disappointment State Park, SE Washington on the north side of the Columbia River mouth
- Fort Stevens State Park, NE Oregon on the south side of the Columbia River mouth, near Astoria, OR
- Nehelem Bay State Park, near Manzanita, OR, and just south of Oswald West State Park
- South Beach State Park, near Newport, OR and Yaquina Bay
- Milo McIver State Park, in Clackamas County, OR, east of Oregon City (the end of the Oregon Trail)
Highlights
WOW! What a trip! How is it we never visited here before? Oh yeah. We mostly spent time on the NW coast on the Olympic Peninsula. Anyway, it was great spending 3 weeks close to the ocean…with sunsets over the Pacific and walks on the beach. And so many places to visit along the coast, not to mention, all those at and around Milo McIver!
We saw the Wreck of the Peter Iredale on the beach at Fort Stevens. We drove the top half of the 3 Cape Scenic Drive, stopping at Cape Meares and Cape Lookout. We did lots of hiking, in the State Parks where we camped and several other parks: Oswald West State Park (beautiful bay…gotta come back!), Cape Lookout State Park, Yaquina Bay State Park, the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area.
We took day trips into to “town” from our campsites…into Ocean Shores, Astoria, Tillimook, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Newport, Manzanita (with which we fell in LOVE!), Oregon City, Portland (to see friends & family).
During the trip we visited so many sites:
