Lizzy Adventure Album at:
Overview
Six day Lizzy trip, with Alyson, to the North West corner of Oregon, at the mouth of the Columbia River, near Astoria. Lots of time just hanging out…at the beach and in Lizzy/at our campsite…playing Rummikub, cooking, knitting (Alyson), watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Alyson & Mom). We also did a little sales-tax free shopping, and visited / re-visited:
- Fort Stevens State Park, the Jetty & the Wreck of the Peter Iredale
- Astoria: Waterfront, Sunday Farmer’s Market, Astoria Column, Art Gallery
- Lewis & Clark Saltworks in Seaside
- Cannon Beach & the Haystack

I’m impressed you got this all put together so quickly. Some nice pictures. We love that area. Have not been to Rogue Brewery there, so it’s on the list now!

We discovered it on one of our trips in the winter of 2019, when we were visiting the Hanthorn Cannery Museum, next door on Pier 39. We went back, because it gave us a ~3 mile walk on the waterfront…it being 1.4 miles up river from the Columbia River Maritime Museum, where we parked. We weren’t too sure about eating INSIDE a restaurant, until we looked in, and saw the space between tables and the high ceilings and several open windows.

OH! AND…as for “getting it together so quickly”…I actually started the Sway page and the 1st post before I even left home (so I had the Sway web address, and formatting in the post announcing our arrival…was just waiting on a picture of the campsite.) Then I pretty much copied pictures from the day before, edited them as needed (e.g. make the horizon level), renamed them and uploaded them, in the morning, while Mark made coffee and breakfast (and we tried to be quiet, so as not to wake Alyson TOO early!) That left me with not to much to finish up last night.

We did manage to get out at least once a day. Astoria is where the Flavel House is…I know you enjoyed those pictures from a previous trip. We are mostly avoiding “inside” activities for now. Many being closed, anyway. Although Alyson and I did briefly visit a small art gallery. Interesting art, including a special exhibit from an artist, whose latest works are all about the pandemic. I ordered her book, with copies of many of them on display…had to order, as they had already sold out the first run they had gotten. It was also interesting to see how they managed social distancing. They obviously required masks to be worn in the gallery. They also limited people inside to 6 at a time, and had arrows on the floor to follow, so people would not pass each other. So it felt safe.
