Overview
The first leg of Life with Lizzy 2020, was south along the Southern California Coast. We ended our NorCal Coast Road Trip with The Beast, in Morgan Hill to pick up Lizzy and visit Jan-J again. The next 4 stops were chosen for their proximity to the 4 National Parks along the SoCal Coast:
- Morgan Hill, back with Jan-J & a mini RPI ’75 Reunion!
- Prunedale, near Salinas, Monterey, and Carmel
- Ventura Beach, south of Santa Barbara
- Malibu Beach, ON THE BEACH!
- San Diego, our last stop on the Pacific
Highlights
We spent time with “old” RPI friends at every stop except Ventura Beach! Jan-J, Bill-C, David-S & Diane in Morgan Hill; David-S & Diane again for a hike in the Pinnacles; Dave-S & Marissa at Malibu Beach; and John-Di & Diane a few times in San Diego. Dave-S and John Di also being Mark’s RSE Brothers. We did a lot of touring, including visits to:

- Santa Barbara Maritime Museum
- Maritime Museum San Diego
- the USS Midway Museum
Early Spanish/Franciscan Missions
- San Carlos Cathedral/Monterey Mission
- Carmel Mission
- San Buenaventura Mission
- Old Mission Santa Barbara
- Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalla
Lighthouses
- Anacapa Lighthouse
- Point Loma Lighthouse
We spent 9 days visiting 4 National Park Sites:
Pinnacles National Park (#169)
Channel Islands National Park (#170)- One of the
National Recreation Areas-California:
- Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (#171)
- One of the
SW Spanish Expeditions & Missions:
- Cabrillo National Monument (#172)
And we bought really good Olive Oil twice…at Oil of Paicines, when we stopped by the ranch north of Pinnacles, and at Temecula Olive Oil in Old Town San Diego.
